Here at Fowey Hall we are constantly on the lookout for unique inspiration for all of our couples who have chosen us to host their big day! Each bride and groom is unique to us so it’s always nice to receive great feedback from newlyweds and read about their experience at our lovely venue.
With this in mind we were thrilled when we happened across a real wedding on recently launched wedding blog – Gwens Bridal Bazaar all about Sammy and Ian’s big day here at Fowey Hall. We got in touch with the lovely Helen who is the lady behind Gwen’s Bridal Bazaar and asked if we could feature their big day on our very own wedding blog for all of you and we were thrilled that she agreed to it, so we give you Sammy and Ian’s big day.
Sammy and Ian got married during April last year and knew straight away that they wanted to include Fowey Hall as the place to say I do:
Sammy “We got married in Fowey, a gorgeous town in Cornwall which over the years has been like our second home. Our ceremony was in Fowey Hall, which was the inspiration for Toad Hall when Wind in the Willows was written in the town.”
Sammy wore a short, puffball hem Mia Mia dress, which I bought from High Society in Cowbridge and tells us “I only tried on about 3 dresses before finding my ‘one’ –I knew it was the one, but I still tried on lots more over the following days to make sure before I bought it! I loved wearing it, and I was glad I chose a dress which suited all the running around we did on the day, and the paddling in the sea!”
Ceremony Time “A good friend of ours read from Shakespeare for us, and we walked back down the aisle to God Only Knows by the Beach Boys. We signed the register to Here Comes the Sun by the Beatles, hoping it would inspire good weather!”
The couple’s gorgeous images were captured by Simon Gough and they laughed as they explained “Simon Gough and his lovely, very pregnant at the time, wife Emma were our photographers. On the day they put us completely at ease and seemed to enjoy the day as much as we did, which made their contribution to our day so special…
We are over the moon with the photos, it’s hard to describe how much they sum up the day! They allow us to re-live the amazing day we had!”
After their photos around the grounds of Fowey Hall Sammy and Ian capitalised on our close proximity to the beach and armed with wellies and flip slops finished of their pics down on the beach.
