As we enter yet more challenging and uncertain times in 2021, the climate is increasingly tough for so many small local businesses. Now more than ever we all need to recognise the importance of shopping locally within our community. We are proud to work with some amazing artisan producers at Fowey Hall and we wanted to share a handful with you!
Colwith Farm Distillery is founded upon five generations of farming history and is the region's first plough to bottle distillery. It produces award-winning vodka and gin delicately produced from scratch on a single estate and was recently featured on Rick Stein’s Cornwall TV series. Potatoes for the vodka and gin they produce are grown around the fields of Fowey Hall and you will no doubt meet a potato harvester when it’s picking season along the road into Fowey! Check out their award-winning range available for delivery to your door here.
The Fowey Brewery was started by friends Dom and Geoff in 2016 who both set out on a mission to produce great tasting beers combining the use of world hops with artisan brewing methods! The Core Range of beers includes Lostwithiel Amber, Lerryn Blond, Sawmills Session IPA, Readymoney Pale Ale, and Golitha Falls.
You may recognise some of the names from the local area, drop them a line to try the range, and bring a welcome taste of Fowey to your doorstep! Visit their website here.
If ever there was a time for ice cream this is it!! The Treleavens story dates back to 2002 when founder, Andrew Treleaven, bought seasonal ice cream company, Beddoes, and set up a small commercial kitchen in Looe on the south Cornish coast. Now moved to a custom-built factory at Tretoil Farm in the north Cornish countryside it’s a beautiful base to continue creating the tastiest ice creams and sorbets. Twelve years ago, Fish for Thought was started by two hard-working men from a Portakabin simply armed with some knives, a fridge, and a van but with a passion to deliver remarkable Cornish seafood! They are at the very heart of the Cornish fishing industry and can tell us exactly where our seafood comes from, right down to the market and even the boat it was landed on!
They encourage everyone to join their ‘Seafood Revolution’ and want to inspire more people to cook and enjoy incredible seafood at home. They have some great Seafood Boxes available for nationwide delivery on their website, whet your appetite and get inspired here.
It is not just local food and beverage suppliers we are working with at Fowey Hall. At ‘The Little Shop’ curated by Fiona Golfar, we are proud to be working with lots of hugely talented Cornish suppliers. We have beautiful pottery from John Webb based in Lostwithiel and hand-knitted Cornish bears from Mandy at Kernow Knitting to name a few! Check out their work and many more at our online shop here.
